Watch: Police captain shot in Pretoria airlifted to Johannesburg hospital

Reports suggest multiple shots were fired at the police captain, but local police are yet to issue a statement on the matter.

A police captain was airlifted to a Johannesburg hospital last night after he was shot multiple times.

Details are sketchy but according to Pro Med EMS paramedics a team responded to a shooting incident at Sefako Makgatho Road on the N1 south highway in Montana, Pretoria.

The service said the patient was stabalised and treated on the scene.

“Due to the nature of the injuries, Netcare911’s Emergency Helicopter was activated to assist in airlifting the patient to a specialised hospital in Johannesburg.”

The service confirmed that investigative authorities were at the scene and would be investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Pretoria Rekord has contacted SAPS spokespersons who are expected to issue a statement in due course.
