Mpumalanga police officer allegedly kills three family members

Three victims were allegedly shot during a family meeting at a policeman’s home near Hazyview.

A police officer allegedly killed his wife and her two brothers at KaMajika near Hazyview yesterday.

According to a close family member, the incident occurred at the couple’s house around 08:30, as the two siblings tried to assist the couple to resolve their issues.

“The police officer was not happy with some of the responses and he stormed out of the meeting and went to his room, only to come back with a gun. He shot his wife and the two men. They were certified dead on the scene,” said the family member.

The suspect handed himself in at Hazyview Police Station, where he remains in custody.

The matter was referred to the provincial Hawks for investigation. The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Hawks, Captain Dineo Sekgotodi, said she was gathering additional information before she could comment on the matter.
