Police investigate car crash that claims life of young Mbombela woman

The Nelspruit police have said they are busy investigating the crash that claimed the life of a young Mbombela woman recently.

While the family and friends of Carli Koen (24) are still mourning the devastating loss of their ray of sunshine, the Nelspruit police said they are still investigating the incident.

Heartfelt tributes poured in for Koen following her death due to a car crash on the R40 in the early hours of June 30.

ER24’s spokesperson, Russel Meiring, previously told Lowvelder that Koen’s vehicle had crashed into a tree, and that when the paramedics had arrived at the scene, some bystanders had already pulled her out of the wreckage. He said she seemed to have been the only occupant in the car at the time.

Meiring said she was immediately rushed to Mediclinic Nelspruit, but died later that afternoon due to the numerous injuries she had sustained.

A Nelspruit police station spokesperson, Constable Bongani Mokoena, said there is no new information pertaining to the crash. He said the SAPS is still investigating the cause of the incident.
