Bongi Mbonambi: England have ‘plastic energy’

The Boks player slammed England's energy as "plastic" in a viral clip from the upcoming ‘Chasing the Sun 2’ documentary.

Bongi Mbonambi has stoked the flames after branding England as having “plastic energy” during the World Cup semi-final clash.

A clip from Chasing the Sun 2, the official documentary of South Africa’s 2023 World Cup triumph, featuring Mbonambi, Ox Nche and Vincent Koch went viral on social media.

In short excerpt, Mbonambi looks back on the Boks’ incredible comeback against England in the semi-finals.

During the video, Mbonambi criticised England’s celebrating every mistake by the Springboks.

“After the knock-on the English started celebrating, whatever the English corner, they do,” the Bok hooker said. “It’s plastic energy, when you’re trying to get energy by just shouting. You’ve just got a scrum, and now you have to scrum against us”.
