Missing elderly man found dead in Durban
The deceased's car was found abandoned in Wentworth, and he was later found in his house situated within the Brighton Beach policing precinct.
A man (75) who has been missing for four days was found dead in his house on The Bluff on Wednesday. The deceased, who cannot be named until his relatives are informed about the incident, was found with multiple stab wounds on his body.
Brighton Beach SAPS spokesperson Captain Louise le Roux says the victim’s car was found abandoned within the policing precinct of Wentworth on Sunday. It is alleged that his car had initially hit a pothole before it came to rest off the side of the road.
“The vehicle was recovered by Wentworth police and processed accordingly. A missing person’s report was filed at the Wentworth Police Station on March 6. On further investigation, it was discovered that the missing person was the owner of an abandoned Kia Sorento,” adds Le Roux.
Wentworth police were assigned to investigate the matter. “SAPS Wentworth, in haste, made their way to the residence of the missing person situated within the Brighton Beach policing precinct.
“The premises were locked, and police officials could not gain entry. The family authorised the premises to be entered, resulting in a locksmith being deployed to the house.
“Upon entering the house, the man’s body was found on the kitchen floor. The crime scene was handed over to Brighton Beach Detective Services. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds to the upper body,” Le Roux says.
Police preliminary investigation revealed the house was ransacked. “No forced entry was gained as all doors and windows were found locked. The motive for the murder has not yet been determined as the investigation is in its early stages. Informers have been activated,” Le Roux adds.
