Watch: 11 armed men rob Randburg jewellery store

Gunmen broke a jewellery store’s glass counters with a crowbar and hammer and fired random shots while fleeing the scene.

Police have confirmed an armed robbery at a jewellery store at Cresta Shopping Centre in Randburg, Gauteng, this morning.

According to Brigadier Brenda Muridili, Linden police responded to a business robbery at the shopping centre just before midday.

It is reported that about 11 unknown men, some of them armed with handguns, stormed into a jewellery store.

“The suspects started breaking the store’s glass counters with a crowbar and hammer to gain access to the displayed jewellery. [They] then fired shots randomly while fleeing to their getaway vehicles, a white Jetta and a silver Toyota Etios.”

No injuries were reported and police are investigating a case of business robbery, Muridili says.

Reports on social media indicate shoppers were kept inside stores as security dealt with the situation.
