Vosman police Sergeant Gugu Mahlangu attended the scene.

She explains that an elderly woman’s dog, Chinika, dragged a handbag into her home and that is when the shocking discovery was made.

“It is alleged that the dog was restless and kept barking, when she checked, she discovered a newborn baby inside the handbag wrapped in a blanket. Fortunately, she was still alive and we rushed her to the hospital where she is receiving care,” Mahlangu explains.
