Woman airlifted from Mossel Bay hiking trail
A Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management crew assisted police for more than three hours in search of the woman.
A woman, reportedly in a critical condition, was airlifted to a hospital in Mossel Bay after a rescue from below the St Blaize hiking trail yesterday afternoon.
The Mossel Bay Municipality said a Mossel Bay Fire, Rescue and Disaster Management crew responded to a call regarding a missing person’s report on the hiking trail in the vicinity of the Van Riebeeck Stadium.
It said the crew assisted the police from about 09:00 in the search for the woman.
“All relevant emergency services responded and were present at the scene during the search. An aerial search was launched, involving a drone,” the municipality said.
The woman was found at about 12:30 and was airlifted by a Skymed helicopter, arriving at the hospital just before 14:00.
A reliable source said the woman is in a critical condition.
