KZN family held up by armed robbers

House robbers who fired a blank shot into the air when fleeing a scene made off with household goods and cash.

A gang of robbers stormed a home on Sanderson Road in Greenwood Park, KZN, in an armed robbery on Monday evening.

During the incident, which occurred at 20:10, the robbers fired a shot in the air when fleeing the scene.

According to Marshall Security spokesperson Tyron Powell, they were alerted to the incident via a WhatsApp community group.

“We were alerted about a shooting and people screaming in distress on Sanderson Place. It appears that four [robbers] entered the family’s residence and held them up. The stolen items include cellphones, bank cards, an undisclosed amount of cash and household appliances.

“While fleeing the scene, the suspects fired one [blank] shot, as evidenced by the spent cartridge found on the scene. The scene was secured by our team and handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS,” he says.

Powell says the robbers escaped in an unknown red vehicle.

The victims were fortunately not physically harmed.
