Man dies after alleged beating by Johannesburg South plot owner

A case of murder is being investigated by Kliprivier police after two men were assaulted for alleged theft.

A man who was allegedly stealing a cable on a plot in Kliprivier in Johannesburg South died after being beaten to death, allegedly by the owner of the plot.

The incident happened on Monday.

According to reports, two men who were allegedly stealing a cable on a plot were apprehended by security guards who handed them over to the plot’s owner.

The owner allegedly drove off with both men, assaulted them with a hammer and copper cable, and dropped them off in an open field in Kliprivier.

One of the suspects then hiked to Kliprivier SAPS to ask for assistance.

A case of murder was registered after the police visited the scene.

The police warned community members not to take the law into their own hands.
