Drone used to track down suspect in Great Brak River

Swift response to information from the scene and the deployment of drone technology led police to where the suspect was hiding.

Sea Border Police members deployed in the Garden Route District used a drone to ensure that a suspect is behind bars after being found in stolen property valued at R29 300, recovered in Great Brak River.

Great Brak Police members responded to a burglary where a cell phone and cash were stolen on Thursday at about 00:45, police said in a statement.

Information gathered on the scene was shared with the Sea Border Police and neighbourhood watch groups. Their swift response and the deployment of drone technology took the team to where the suspect was hiding.

A search of the man resulted in the recovery of the cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash which were stolen during the burglary.

The police confiscated the items and arrested the suspect, believed to be a Mozambican national, on a charge of housebreaking and theft.
