Businessman gunned down in uMhlanga Ridge

Two fatal shootings have taken place in Durban North in two days.

A man in his 30s was shot and killed on Meridian Drive in uMhlanga yesterday afternoon.

Durban North police are investigating the murder of the businessman who sustained several gunshot wounds to his body.

According to KZN VIP Protection Services, via their Facebook page, several emergency services were on the scene.

“Sadly, a male was found in the driver seat of his bakkie unresponsive after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to the body. Nothing could be done to save the victim and he has been declared deceased. The circumstances leading up to the incident cannot be confirmed at this time.

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family during this time,” the statement read.

This is the second fatal shooting in two days in the north Durban area.

On Saturday, a man was shot and killed on Riverside Road in Umgeni Park.

In that incident, the victim, also in his 30s, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

According to Garrith Jamieson, ALS Paramedics spokesperson, the circumstances leading to the shooting were unclear at the time.
