Brothers arrested in connection with murder of uMhlanga businessman

Two men were arrested after a 32-year-old businessman was gunned down in his vehicle over the weekend.

Two men, aged 35 and 40, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a businessman in uMhlanga Ridge who was shot and killed over the weekend.

Shailen Singh (32) was gunned down while seated in his vehicle on Meridian Drive on Sunday.

Singh was shot multiple times and was declared deceased by paramedics on the scene.

KZN SAPS provincial spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the suspects are brothers and were arrested on Wednesday.

“The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Organised Crime: Murder and Robbery Unit detectives have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of a 32-year-old businessman. He was shot and killed at a parking lot in uMhlanga. Two vehicles which were seen leaving the crime scene after the murder were also recovered.

Netshiunda said the suspects were expected to appear in court today.

A case of murder was opened at the Durban North Police Station before the case was handed over to the organised crime unit.

Police have not revealed the motive for the shooting or the circumstances surrounding it.
