Man killed by goods train in KZN

Eyewitnesses reported that the man, in his 50s, was crossing the tracks in Fraser when the train hit him.

A 54-year-old man was killed after being struck by a goods train in Fraser, Ethekwini, yesterday.

According to The North Coast Courier, Reaction Unit South Africa paramedics found the man lying in a prone position next to the tracks after being alerted by eyewitnesses, who reported he was crossing the tracks when the train hit him.

In an unrelated incident, 21 people were injured in a head-on collision between a taxi and a light motor vehicle on the R74 near the KwaDukuza Child Welfare bridge.

IPSS Medical Rescue confirmed the collision left victims with injuries ranging from minor to severe.

Paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene before transporting them to various healthcare facilities for further treatment.
