Caught in Mbombela music studio’s ceiling: 2 suspects expected in court

Two suspects are expected in court tomorrow after they were caught hiding in a ceiling following an attempted business robbery.

Two suspects who were arrested in connection with an attempted business robbery in Mbombela on Friday are expected in court tomorrow.

Lowvelder reports a local musician, who was in a studio recording a song with his producer, decided to take a break and buy food. When he returned, he realised the lights had been switched off.

“He felt something hitting him in the face, he closed the door and ran out for help,” says provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli.

Some security guards assisted the musician and went to the studio with him. “They found the producer tied up and his mouth gagged with tape,” adds Mdhluli.

When the police arrived, it was discovered the suspects were in the ceiling trying to escape. Two suspects were arrested, but a third one managed to get away.

The police also confiscated a toy gun that was used in the attempted robbery.
