Gale-force winds uproot trees and disrupt traffic across Durban

eThekwini emergency services have deployed teams to clear blocked roads and secure damaged infrastructure following widespread severe weather.

More than 20 trees were uprooted across eThekwini as gale-force winds battered the city yesterday, (August, 21), disrupting traffic and prompting municipal emergency teams to respond to reports of fallen trees and damaged structures, reports Berea Mail.

Affected areas include Currie Road, Mazisi Kunene Road, Margaret Maytom Avenue and Masabalala Yengwa Avenue. Municipal spokesperson Senzelwe Mzila said the City had received 23 reports of fallen trees by 18:30.
