21 killed in Western Cape crash
A major transport corridor in the Karoo has been closed temporarily following a severe multi-vehicle collision.
A serious crash on the N1 between Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka in the Western Cape has claimed at least 21 lives and left four others injured.
The Road Traffic Management Corporation confirmed in a post on X that the collision involved two minibus taxis and a station wagon.
The incident occurred last night (September 13).
Due to the severity to the crash, authorities have closed the N1 in the area in both directions.
Motorists warned of major delays
The Western Cape Government has urged motorists to avoid the area where possible, expect significant delays, exercise caution and follow instructions from officials.
