Soweto Fashion Week returns with 3 days of South African design talent

The event will feature designers from across the country, showcasing collections inspired by colour, prints, movement and South African identity.

Soweto Fashion Week will return from November 5–7, bringing emerging and established South African designers to the runway at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani, reports Soweto Urban News.

The Spring/Summer 2026 season follows the event’s Autumn/Winter showcase and aims to celebrate local talent, creativity and the growth of South African fashion.

The opening night, dedicated to emerging designers, will feature nine designers, including RFL Studios, Zimisele and Shirley Joseph.

Fashion students from the University of Johannesburg and Tshwane University of Technology will also showcase their work.

The second day will feature Mbobo Movement, a patchwork and denim brand founded by Luthando Mbobo, who returns to the Soweto Fashion Week runway after making his debut in the Autumn/Winter 2026 emerging designers’ showcase.

Mbobo said the brand had experienced significant growth since its previous appearance, including a nomination for Best Emerging Fashion Designer at the South Africa Fashion Awards and participation in SA Kids Fashion Week.
