KZN woman (24) stabbed to death in street

A 24-year-old woman died after being stabbed in the street in Izingolweni in KwaZulu-Natal, as a spate of stabbing incidents continue in the province.

Police were called to the Manzamhlophe Ward at about 7pm on Saturday after reports of a woman collapsing from knife-inflicted wounds, South Coast Herald reported.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said the victim, Sindi Xolo, had been walking with a friend in Manzamhlophe when they noticed they were being followed by a man.

“The man then ran up to Mrs Xolo and stabbed her several times. She sustained multiple stab wounds and died at the scene,” said Mfeka.

A man was later arrested in connection with the murder.

Last week, Claudelle Willard (32) died while on her way to a tavern on Seabass Road in Newlands East.

Some witnesses claimed Willard had fallen backwards and injured her neck, which ultimately resulted in her death.

Others said she was stabbed to death when she tried to stop a fight.

Police said investigations were ongoing.
