KwaDukuza ANC secretary in KZN slammed with 26 year sentence
The sentence comes three weeks after he was convicted.
KwaDukuza ANC regional secretary in KZN, Musa Zondi, will spend 26 years behind bars for murder and kidnapping, North Coast Courier reports.
The 35 year old was sentenced at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on Thursday for crimes that took place in February 2015.
Zondi is well known on the Dolphin Coast, mainly for his activities in his previous capacity as the ANC Youth League secretary, where he was the voice of many protests including the violent protest at Ballito Junction Mall, KwaDukuza Private Hospital and throwing accusations of racism at Umhlali Preparatory.
Appearing with three others, Zondi was handed 14 years for murder and 12 years for assault with the intent to cause grievous body harm and kidnapping.
The sentence comes three weeks after he was convicted and emanates from the death of a 25-year-old man who was killed in Kranskop three years ago.
According to KZN SAPS spokesperson colonel Thembeka Mbele, the man’s body was found severely battered in the Ntunjambili area.
“The deceased was accused of breaking into the family tuck-shop where goods were stolen. He was then questioned and fatally assaulted.”
