In an effort to curb accidents on the N1, SANRAL have begun erecting yellow poles on the solid yellow line on the N1 from Kranskop to the Modimolle Mountain, Polokwane Review reports.

Spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala, who posted the video, says the poles will make it difficult for transgressors to overtake on to oncoming traffic.

 So far, over 50 people have lost their lives on the N1 between Kranskop and Polokwane due to various reasons including reckless and negligent driving, burst tyres and fatigue
