Police arrest three ‘most wanted’ suspects
Three of KwaZulu-Natal’s “most wanted” criminals, believed to be behind at least one murder and two thefts of motor vehicles, have been arrested.
The suspects were tracked down on Monday when officers from the Port Shepstone K9 Unit, Port Shepstone Crime Prevention Unit, 10111 call centre and Port Shepstone Crime Intelligence responded on information received, South Coast Herald reported.
“Three men, aged 26, 29 and 40 respectively, were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen property,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
Various items such as tools thought to have been used in house break-ins and the theft of vehicles, along with a flat screen television and a hi-fi system, were found. The men were detained at the Port Shepstone Police Station and would appear in court this week.
“They are also wanted in connection with other cases, including a murder that took place in Mehlomnyama, near St. Faiths during 2012, the theft of a motor vehicle case during 2013 in Umtentweni and a theft of motor vehicle case in Scottburgh in 2012,” said Wiid.
Investigations are ongoing.
This after KwaZulu-Natal police arrested another “most wanted” suspect, Mpho David Nkosi, also known as “Thirteen”, last September.
Nkosi, 39, was believed to have been one of the men who allegedly gunned down forensic auditor Lawrence Moepi outside his Houghton offices on October 18, 2013.
Remember Seiphoro was arrested six weeks after the shooting. After an 11-month stint evading arrest, the National Investigating Unit (NINU) arrested Nkosi, who was found hiding in a rondawel in West Bank, KwaZulu-Natal.
The South Gauteng High Court convicted and sentenced the two to life in prison in November.
