Suspects rob petrol station managers
Five suspects robbed the managers of a Sasol garage near Ben Vorster High School in Tzaneen, Limpopo on Tuesday morning.
According to Marius Jacobs from Northern Security, two of the managers of the garage left for the bank to deposit the Easter weekend’s money. While passing a mosque, a white VW Golf GTI reportedly tried to push them off the road.
The suspects then allegedly opened fire on the two managers, who made an emergency call to Jacobs and rushed back to the garage, Letaba Herald reported.
The suspects then reportedly followed the managers back to the garage, where they robbed them of hundreds of thousands of rands.
Police and other personnel from Northern Security later arrived at the scene.
According to Jacobs, CCTV footage revealed in the meantime that a person who was sitting at one of the tables outside the garage made a phone call the moment when the two managers left for the bank.
No injuries were reported, and the suspects are still at large. The incident is currently under investigation by the police.
In February, a couple was allegedly robbed of R80 000 after gunmen followed the husband homein Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.
It is alleged the complainant withdrew an amount of R70 000 from an ATM, and when he arrived at his home he was approached by two men who pointed firearms at him and demanded he hand over the money.
The suspects also demanded a bag belonging to the victim’s wife, which contained R10 000 and a cellphone. The suspects reportedly fled the scene in a blue hatchback VW Polo.
