Northern Cape suspected drug dealer arrested

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for drug possession in Dankie Deboe, Grobelaarshoop, in Northern Cape.

Lieutenant Sergio Kock said Grobelaarshoop police received a tip-off about suspected drug sales at a house in Dankie Deboe on Sunday.

Kock added the house was searched and police found five packets of tik hidden in one of the rooms.

“The estimated street value of the tik is R500,” he said.

An undisclosed amount of cash was also confiscated from the suspect.

The suspect will appear in the Grobelaarshoop Regional Court soon.

Earlier this month, a 40-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs in Kimberley, Northern Cape.

The Kimberley police crime prevention team were conducting patrol duties when they observed a suspicious vehicle on Barkly Road in Galeshewe, said Lieutenant Olebogeng Tawana.

The members flagged the driver of the vehicle to stop. However, the driver refused to stop and sped off, added Tawana.

“A chase ensued between the unidentified Lesotho national and police. The suspect was swiftly intercepted by the police on Mooketsi Street, Galesheswe,” said Tawana.

Upon search and investigation, a black bag containing 0.15 kg of dagga and mandrax tablets was found inside the vehicle, added Tawana.
