Woman allegedly raped 4 times in front of child
A case of rape has been opened after a 22-year-old woman was repeatedly raped in front of her 2-year-old son in Block W Soshanguve, Pretoria.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said the woman was carrying her child on her back and was on her way to visit her boyfriend when she was accosted by an unknown man,Rekord North reported.
“The woman was walking to her boyfriend’s house at around 8:30pm last Wednesday when she was approached by the suspect. The man pulled out a knife and threatened to kill her. After realising she was carrying a child, the man said he would not kill her and ordered her to go with him into the veld,” added Mangena.
“As they were in the middle of bushes, the woman tried to run but the man tripped her and the child fell. While she was picking the child up, the suspect pushed her down and raped her without a condom,” said Mangena.
He said the victim was raped four times within an hour before the man fled the scene. The victim then took her child to the nearest house where she was helped and taken to the police.
Investigations are ongoing.
In March, a woman was allegedly dragged into a bush and raped by two suspects while walking with her boyfriend in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said the couple were on their way back home in the Sonheuwel area when two suspects allegedly attacked and overpowered them before forcefully dragging the woman into a nearby bush.
