VIDEO: Durban hijacker crashes stolen car
A suspect was apprehended by a private security company in uMhlanga, north of Durban, after he crashed a hijacked car.
The incident, which took place on Sunday evening in the upmarket suburb, was captured by CCTV cameras. In the video, a VW Golf that was reportedly hijacked at a nearby McDonald’s is seen racing down a street before the driver loses control, plowing into the wall of a residential property, North Glen News reported.
The suspect then abandons the vehicle and flees the scene. A few moments later he is brought back to the scene by reaction officers from Enforce Security Services.
According to Enforce Security Services, the suspect offered one of the officers a R1 000 bribe. The suspect was then handed over to Durban North police.
This after a video clip surfaced showing the hijacking of a car in the Fordsburg area of Johannesburg. The incident, which was captured on the vehicle’s dashboard camera, allegedly took place on Saturday, May 30, on Main Reef Road, near the M2 on-ramp.
In the video, four armed men driving a white VW Jetta with the registration DL65CLGP are seen emerging from the car and approaching the unidentified hijacked vehicle.
