Alleged KZN drug dealer takes plunge from seventh floor in escape attempt
Police seized various drugs which included three ecstasy tablets, 32 grams of rock cocaine, 468, 8 grams of CAT and a kilogram of cocaine, all with a street value of R600k.
A man sustained serious injuries after he jumped from the seventh floor of a block of flats in Durban recently.
It is alleged that the man was fleeing from the police after a drug raid was conducted at his flat, Rising Sun Overport reports.
The incident took place at about 6 am when the Point Task Team, together with the Provincial Drug and Firearm Unit, conducted a drug operation at the John Ross House flat on Margaret Mncadi Avenue.
According to Point SAPS communications officer, Captain Z Khumalo, police seized various drugs which included three ecstasy tablets, 32 grams of rock cocaine, 468, 8 grams of CAT and a kilogram of cocaine, all with a street value of R600, 000.
“The male occupant, who was in the flat at the time of the raid, attempted to flee and jumped out of the window from the seventh floor. He landed on the ledge of the fourth floor and sustained major injuries. The man was stabilised at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital for medical attention,” he added.
The man was placed under police guard at Addington Hospital and will appear in court as soon as he is released from the hospital.
A case of dealing in drugs was opened and is currently being investigated by Point SAPS.
