BMW 530i lands in SA: Here’s pricing and specs
BMW South Africa has expanded its 5 Series model line-up with the introduction of the 530i. Here’s how much you can expect to pay.
Launched in South Africa in 2023, the BMW 5 Series line-up initially comprised the (diesel-powered) 520d and a duo of all-electric, ‘i’-badged derivatives, the i5 eDrive40 and i5 M60 xDrive. However, BMW SA has now introduced a new (petrol-powered) model to its internal combustion 5 Series portfolio, the 530i.

The 530i employs the Bavarian brand’s 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which incorporates 48V mild-hybrid technology. According to BMW, the latter setup enhances the car’s responsiveness when accelerating and optimises the auto start/stop function. The powertrain exclusively drives the rear axle via the firm’s familiar eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
Endowed with 190kW and 400Nm of torque, the latter of which is available from a mere 1 600r/min, BMW claims the 530i completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 6.2s, before topping out at 250km/h. Average fuel consumption is rated at 7.0L/100km.

BMW 530i Price in SA
Priced at R1 321 081.40, the 530i M Sport is just over R70 000 more expensive than its diesel-powered, 520d M Sport stablemate, which is priced at R 1 248 731. Included in the asking price is a two-year/unlimited km warranty and a five-year/100 000km maintenance plan.

The 530i’s standard equipment mirrors that of the 520d. Standard features include Comfort Access with Digital Key, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, adaptive LED headlamps, and BMW’s Driving Assist suite. The inclusion of the M Sport package as standard adds a sporty touch to its character. However, customers have the option of specifying the M Sport Pro package, which includes BMW Iconic Glow, BMW Individual Shadowline lights, dark blue metallic M Sport brakes, and M seatbelts.
