Ford unveils Mustang Dark Horse SC
Ford Racing has whipped the wraps off its latest high-performance Mustang, the Dark Horse SC; a supercharged, track-focused Pony car with a racing pedigree.
Ford Racing has unveiled its latest high-performance Mustang, the Dark Horse SC. Created in collaboration with Fords GTD team, this model bridges the gap between the Mustang Dark Horse Performance Package and the Mustang GTD.
Based on the Mustang GTD – a supercharged model inspired by Ford’s Mustang GT3 racecar – and the Mustang Dark Horse that recently featured in CAR Magazine’s 2026 Performance Shootout, the SC incorporates numerous aerodynamic and structural upgrades. These include a new aluminium bonnet with carbon-fibre vents, a reworked front fascia and underbody venting to improve airflow, and a revised rear diffuser paired with rectangular quad exhaust tips. Mustang GTD-derived 3D-printed titanium trim pieces are used throughout the Dark Horse SC. The profile also receives a set of aggressive carbon-fibre side skirts.
Powering the SC is a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 producing 566kW and 847Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car features a Variable Traction Control system with five settings, along with an electronic stability control (ESC) that can be fully deactivated for more direct driver input.
Optional upgrades via the Track Pack include Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres, as well as a ducktail bootlid designed to improve the efficiency of the carbon-fibre rear wing. The SC’s handling package also adds carbon-fibre wheels, forged suspension links and a lightweight magnesium strut tower brace to reduce unsprung weight. These suspension changes work in conjunction with MagneRide adaptive dampers, along with revised spring rates and updated knuckles.
Inside, the Dark Horse SC takes cues from the GTD with a leather, flat-bottom steering wheel featuring a centre stripe and integrated performance controls, complemented by Alcantara, red stitching and carbon-fibre accents. With the Track Pack, a pair of Recaro sport seats upholstered in leather and Dinamica (suede-effect microfibre) with Space Grey or Teal accents are fitted, and the second row of seats is replaced with a storage shelf.
At present, Ford doesn’t have any plans to offer the Mustang SC in South Africa.
