Jetour’s rugged T-Series off-roaders shatter global sales milestones

Driven by the massive success of the boxy T2, a Chines automaker has cleared a major sales hurdle globally while rapidly disrupting South Africa's top ten charts.

Jetour’s rugged T-Series duo has shattered global sales records, racking up over 700 000 combined deliveries since their 2023 debut, a major new milestone for the Chinese automaker.

Leading the charge is the T2, sampled by CAR Magazine in March this year, which alone accounts for more than 500,000 units of the overall figure. According to the Wuhu-based brand, this makes the ever-popular model the fastest-selling ‘boxy’ SUV in history to hit this milestone.

The carmaker recorded these global sales figures in May, the same month it hit a new sales record in South Africa by establishing itself as among the best-selling car brands in SA. Overall, since its arrival in the local market in October last year, 4 910 new T2 units have been sold locally. As a reminder, the company is now gearing up to produce the T1 and T2 in SA from next year, following Chery’s acquisition of Nissan’s Rosslyn assembly plant.

While Jetour operates independently from Chery in SA, the brands are related globally, with the former falling under the Chery Group umbrella. Jetour’s local lineup also includes the Dashing and X70 Plus, which were evaluated for a comprehensive road test in last year’s February issue of CAR Magazine.
