Watch: Global country music accolade for Atlasville’s HunTer

Atlasville singer HunTer won the Female Vocalist of the Year award at the 2017 Texas Sounds International Country Music Awards held in Texas recently.

The awards recognise excellence in country music as performed worldwide.

HunTer performed in front of a packed crowd and six judges who are among the top people in the US entertainment industry on November 2.

Artists get 30 minutes each to impress the judges and the crowd.

HunTer sang eight songs, five of which she performed unrehearsed with the band affiliated with the competition, and three of which she sang with tracks.

The award ceremony took place on November 5.

“When they called my name, I thought I misheard,” said HunTer.

“It was amazing performing to a crowd that appreciates live entertainment. It’s awesome to bring this award to South Africa.”

The award has opened many doors for her, and now all the hard work starts.

She is planning a nationwide tour and is in the process of producing a country album for release early next year.
