Five minute skincare routine for men

Looking after your face needn’t be time-consuming or tedious...

Once upon a time, skincare was a “woman’s thing”, but not anymore. These days, most men recognise the value of treating their skin well – whether to minimise the signs of ageing or simply to clear breakouts and other forms of irritation (hello shaving rashes and ingrown hairs!). However, time can be a deterrent.

Fortunately skincare for men need not be a tedious task, says Kevin Khosa of SKIN functional. “Settling into a simple and quick routine is all it takes to make skincare a priority rather than an afterthought for the everyday man.”

Wondering where to start? Follow the five minute routine below…

  • Step 1: An effective purifying, sulphate-free face wash that can be used morning and night is a must-have. (1 min)
  • Step 2: A good tonic that gently exfoliates and removes dead skin cells is a need-to-have. (30 seconds)
  • Step 3 or 4: For ingrown hairs and shaving rashes, an effective serum that contains niacinamide works like a charm. (2 mins)
  • Step 3 or 4: For supple, smooth and hydrated skin, a potent blend of Squalane and Cannabis Sativa helps reduce inflammation and irritation, restoring the barrier function of the skin. (2 mins)
  • Step 5: A long-lasting and restoring moisturiser with SPF in it is the final and most important step before you leave the house. Remember to moisturize again at night, with an SPF-free product this time. (1 min)

And just like that, you’re done! A few steps, using the right products, applied in the correct order, will make a world of difference to your skin.
