Sparkling cranberry cocktail with a hint of citrus

The tartness of cranberry blends perfectly with the sweetness of orange liqueur and the crisp fizz of sparkling wine.

The festive season calls for something bright, bubbly, and just a little bit indulgent. This sparkling cranberry cocktail delivers all that and more. With its jewel-like colour, frosty berries, and hint of citrus, it’s the kind of drink that instantly feels like a celebration. This recipe serves two but can easily be doubled or tripled for a bigger crowd.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup cranberry juice (unsweetened or light)
  • 30 ml vodka
  • 15 ml orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 60 ml sparkling wine or Champagne
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh or frozen cranberries, for garnish
  • Lemon or orange slice, for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Method

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then pour in the cranberry juice, vodka, and orange liqueur.
  2. Shake well until chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass.
  4. Top up with sparkling wine and give it a gentle stir.
  5. Garnish with a few cranberries, a lemon or orange slice, and a sprig of mint.

Variations to try:
• Swap the sparkling wine for a dry rosé bubbly.
• Coat the rim of each glass with sugar by dipping it in lemon juice, then sugar crystals.
• Skip the vodka and liqueur, and replace the sparkling wine with soda water or sparkling grape juice.
