Kiwi caipiroska with fresh lime and vodka
Fresh kiwi gives this vodka cocktail a bright flavour and colour, offering a change from the usual citrus-based drinks.
A caipiroska is a close relative of the classic caipirinha, made in the same way but using vodka instead of cachaça. It’s known for being fresh and easy to make, built around a short list of ingredients and served over ice. Using kiwi in this version might not be the obvious choice, but its natural sweetness and acidity work well with vodka.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe kiwis, peeled
- 120 ml vodka
- 30 ml sugar syrup, or to taste
- Ice
- Soda water, optional
- Kiwi slices, to garnish
Method
- Peel the kiwis and blend until smooth. Strain the juice if you want a clearer drink.
- Add the kiwi juice, vodka and sugar syrup to a shaker filled with ice.
- Shake well until the mixture is properly chilled.
- Strain into short glasses over fresh ice.
- Top with a splash of soda if you like it lighter.
- Garnish with a slice of kiwi and serve straight away.
