10 000 title deeds gather dust at customer care centres

For enquiries on RDP title deeds, residents must bring their bar-coded ID.

The City of Ekurhuleni Human Settlements Department calls upon all beneficiaries of government-subsidised houses, who have not collected their title deeds, to do so at their nearest customer care centres.

MMC for Human Settlements Mabekenyane Thamahane urged the younger generation to assist the elderly in ensuring that they collect their documents.

“A total of 10 468 title deeds continue to gather dust in our offices. Most of these belong to people who acquired RDP houses from as far back as 1994. We urge the senior citizens, especially in Thembisa where there is a high number of uncollected title deeds, to answer the call and collect their documents,” pleaded the MMC.

For enquiries on RDP title deeds, residents may visit their nearest customer care centre and must bring their bar-coded ID.
