11 injured after store fire in Centurion

After initially assisting the injured on the scene, emergency services employees found more people inside the building.

A cash and carry store in Centurion was engulfed in flames yesterday afternoon, resulting in 11 victims sustaining minor to moderate injuries.

Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso says his team responded to a call about a store fire in Centurion, where people were injured.

When searching the building, firefighters found five more injured people inside.

“Eleven patients were treated and transported to Kalafong Hospital by private ambulances,” says Mabaso.

“Two victims sustained minor injuries while nine other victims sustained moderate injuries,” he adds.

He says the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
