18 injured in uMfolozi taxi crash

It was reported that the taxi had overturned as a result of the collision, entrapping passengers and leaving two people critically injured.

Eighteen people have been injured following a crash between a minibus and a bakkie on the N2 highway near uMfolozi, KwaZulu-Natal at around 1pm on Friday.

KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the jaws of life were used to extricate several patients from the wreck.

He said there were also children travelling in the minibus but could not confirm how many minors were involved or the state of their condition.

“The exact cause of the crash is not known at this stage and is being investigated by the police.”
