Two officials from the Ermelo Correctional Services have been nabbed for allegedly attempting to smuggle dagga, mobile devices and accessories.

The SAPS processed the two individuals who now face criminal charges.

The national commissioner of Correctional Services, Samuel Makghoti Thobakgale, welcomed the arrests.

The two officials were caught during a surprise search as they reported for duty yesterday.

“This incident underscores our commitment to security and integrity within correctional facilities as well as our ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities within the correctional system.”
