2 escaped elephants killed in KZN

A provincial conservation authority confirmed the escape of three elephants, with two being killed, allegedly by terrorised community members.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife has confirmed the killing of two elephants that were reportedly terorrising communities in the Masokaneni area in Nongoma.

According to the conservation authority’s communications manager, Musa Mntambo, these elephants have escaped from Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park a number of times and put the lives of local people in danger.

“There were three [that escaped] but only two were destroyed,” adds Mntambo.
