Police have urged the public to come forward with information after finding the bodies of two women in a car on a highway.

The Middelburg police have confirmed they are investigating the suspected murders of two women who were found dead, with multiple gunshot wounds, in a BMW on the N4 in Mpumalanga yesterday.

Mpumalanga Provincial Spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli says the identity of one victim is known to the police. Investigations are under way to identify the other victim.

SAPS were notified yesterday at 08:50 about the incident. The vehicle was found roughly 5km from the Alzu Petroport.

Upon arrival, police found a white BMW with no registration plates and two female victims inside the vehicle.

The vehicle was parked next to the road. The engine was off, but the hazard lights were on.

Upon further investigation, the police found two registration plates in the luggage inside the BMW.

Mdhluli says the motive for the shooting is unknown.

He urges anyone with information about the shooting to contact SAPS on 086 001 0111.
