3 in court for multiple Olifants River robberies and kidnappings
Three parolees linked to more than 15 armed robberies last year near a popular ritual site in eMalahleni, Mpumalanga, have been arrested.
Three accused, linked to multiple armed robberies and kidnappings at Olifants River, appeared before the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court yesterday, reports Witbank News
The accused were arrested on Tuesday after a series of continuous attacks, following more than 15 armed robbery cases reported last year.
They remain in custody and are expected to return to court on March 25.
The accused, who were previously on parole for serious crimes in the Eastern Cape, Vosman and KwaMhlanga, are facing charges of armed robbery and kidnapping.
Witbank SAPS acting station commander Colonel Nonhlanhla Kgosana commended the members involved in the arrest for their dedication and commitment to ensuring that perpetrators of violent crimes are brought to justice.
She reassured the community that SAPS remains committed to safeguarding all residents and visitors, especially in areas frequently visited for religious and cultural activities.
Investigations are ongoing and more arrests are expected as police continue to follow leads.
