3 Mozambican nationals arrested near Komatipoort in 2 stolen vehicles

Police were acting on information about two stolen vehicles from Edenvale and Garsfontein, which lead to the arrests.

On Monday, three Mozambican nationals, one aged 39 and the other two aged 41, were arrested a few kilometres from the Lebombo Port of Entry. During the arrest, two vehicles, reported stolen, were recovered.

The arrest followed the police’s response to information about two Toyota RAV4s, believed to have been stolen in Edenvale and Garsfontein, Gauteng, earlier in the month.

The first vehicle, reportedly from Edenvale, contained two occupants, and was intercepted as it was being driven towards Komatipoort at around 16:20. The second vehicle, reportedly from Garsfontein, was recovered after it passed Komatipoort. One suspect, the driver, was arrested around 21:00.

All three suspects are expected to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court today on charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicles.

The police said they cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges.
