3 murder suspects arrested, 1 on the run in Atteridgeville
Following the incident, the four were traced and attacked by the community before police intervened.
Atteridgeville police have applauded the community for their involvement in a speedy arrest of three murder suspects on Monday, Pretoria Rekord reports.
Last Saturday, five men were involved in an argument which led to one of them being stabbed in the chest, said Atteridgeville spokesperson Mapula Rikhotso.
The victim died on scene from the stab wounds.
Following the incident, the four were traced and attacked by the community before police intervened.
Atteridgeville station commander Brigadier Mbangwa Nkhwashu applauded the community for their work, but also condemned the violence.
“Police are currently tracing one of the suspects, following the arrest of the three others of whom two are in hospital under police guard,” he said.
One suspect is currently detained at the Atteridgeville police station and will be appearing at the local magistrate’s court soon.
Nkhwashu appealed to the community not to take the law into their own hands, but to allow justice to take its course.
“We want to thank the people for their consistent fight against crime and urge them to keep their eyes peeled and inform us of any criminal activities taking place in their neighbourhood.”
