6 arrested as Hawks uncover illegal abalone operation in Alberton

The Hawks arrested six suspects after uncovering a large illegal abalone processing plant in Alberton.

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), commonly known as the Hawks, last night investigated a crime scene in Alberton after uncovering a large illegal abalone processing plant.

Alberton Record reports that, according to SAPS, six suspects were arrested at the site.

Police officers were on the scene, conducting investigations and processing it to gather further evidence.
