The Northcliff Melville Times reports that Fairland police on patrol noticed a suspicious Toyota Etios. When they realised that they were spotted, the suspects sped off, at times drivng on the wrong side of the road.
The chase ensued over Beyers Naude Drive, along Republic Road and in to Barry Hertzog Avenue. Suspects fired shots at police in the process. They were eventually trapped in Yale Avenue outside Wits University and arrested.
