Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said: "The car was pulled off, searched and 372g of tik with a street value of R120k was found under the seat. They were travelling from Port Elizabeth to George."

The former law enforcer from George, Melvin Jacobs (41), who was arrested in possession of a stash of drugs on Sunday 9 February, was granted bail of R30 000 in the George Magistrate’s Court last Friday, 21 February, George Herald reports.

The arrest took place on the N2 just outside George.

The woman with him, Liezel Stalmeester (23), who was also arrested, was released on bail of R5 000.

Jacobs’ bail conditions entail that he has to report to the police station every Monday and Friday before 10:00 and is not allowed to leave George.

Southern Cape police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Pojie, said the two suspects were nabbed when a suspicious vehicle was spotted during a joint operation on the highway.

“The car was pulled off, searched and 372g of tik with a street value of R120 000 was found under the seat. They were travelling from Port Elizabeth to George.”

Four laptops were also found in their possession.

Their next court appearance will be on 29 May.
