Armed gang target Edgars in Mbombela mall

The men stormed the store just after 18:00 last night with seemingly with specific products in mind.

Nine armed men stormed the Edgars store in the i’langa Mall in Mbombela last night and got away with luxury items worth hundreds of thousands of rands.

The Nelspruit SAPS confirmed a business robbery was reported at the popular Mbombela mall.

Constable Bongani Mokoena, a spokesperson for the Nelspruit police, says the group, armed with pistols, stormed the store. They held a security guard hostage and gave instructions to the store manager to stay calm.

Mokoena says the robbers targeted watches and perfumes with an estimated value of R300 000.

No shots were fired, and no injuries reported.
