Arrested DUT students to appear in court on 4 June

THE 16 Durban University of Technology (DUT) students, who were arrested for public violence, malicious damage to property and gathering illegally, will make their next appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 4 June.

According to KwaZulu-Natal SAPS spokesperson, Captain Nqobile Gwala, the students, who were arrested at the Steve Biko Campus, were each released on R500 bail.

“The arrested students said that none of them are SRC members, one of them is registered and the rest went to look for spaces,” said Captain Gwala.
