At least one dead in Grayston drive bridge collapse
A temporary metal bridge has collapsed on the M1 highway near the Grayston Drive offramp in Sandton, north of Johannesburg.
Johannesburg Metro Police spokesperson Superintendent Edna Mamonyane confirmed the pedestrian bridge next to the Grayston Bridge collapsed at 4pm this afternoon, Sandton Chroniclereported.
Mamonyane could not confirm if there were any injuries while a representative from Sandton police said there were no deaths reported. However, Netcare911 on Twitter said at least one person was killed while 15 others were injured.

Emergency services are currently at the scene and Metro police are diverting traffic away from the bridge collapse.
Traffic at some parts of the highway was reported to be at a standstill. Motorists are urged to avoid the route if possible.
