Bloemfontein police hunt gang of 7 after panga attack
A seemingly innocent request for water ended in violence as three women and four men attacked a man and stole property in Wilgehof.
Parkweg police are requesting public assistance in locating seven suspects, three women and four men, after a house robbery and attempted murder of a 58-year-old man in Wilgehof, Bloemfontein.
Bloemfontein Courant reports that according to Free State police spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon. Police responded to a complaint and found the victim injured. Emergency medical services treated him on the scene before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
“It is alleged that two women first approached the victim’s home asking for water. After he gave them water, they left but soon returned with another woman and four men. The group forced their way inside, attacked the victim with a panga, tied his hands with an electrical cord, and ransacked the house, stealing household items and clothing before fleeing,” Kareli says.
No arrests have been made. Parkweg police urge anyone with information to contact detective Captain Sabata Jafta Moseme at 082 526 2713, the Crime Stop hotline at 08600 10111, or submit an anonymous tip via the MySAPS app.
